School Residencies

A 5-day residency of “Aladdin” with Doby’s Mill Elementary’s 3rd grade class of 2022.

With a 5-day or 4-day residency, you do not need to worry about finding a teacher to direct your show… You also don’t have to worry about scheduling rehearsals over the course of several weeks… Because… We can do it ALL in FIVE DAYS! We will provide EVERYthing needed to do your show… and on top of that? We will show up on day 1 to handle your auditions! On the remaining days, we will rehearse your students during school hours (Or after school, if that is preferred). On the last day of our residency, we will have a dress rehearsal in the morning, followed by a performance for your students, and an evening show for the parents. It is that easy! You may be wondering how we can get a good-quality show done in just 5 days, be we can assure you…. You will be absolutely amazed at what your students can accomplish in just one week! The 5-day residency is a popular option among our clients, and it is also our favorite as well!

With a 2-day residency, YOU are the director! If a school has a staff member interested in directing a musical at their school, and they don’t want to stay up until 1:00 am cutting out refrigerator boxes for set pieces, then we are your best option! Before the residency begins, you are sent the script & music ahead of time, so that you can work with your students on the production before we get there (or you can wait until we arrive, totally up to you!) On the first day of your residency, we will arrive at your school a few weeks before your performance date, and we will conduct a theatrical workshop. During this workshop, we will teach your students (And your director, if they need some theatrical help, too!) where to stand onstage, line interpretation, body language, voice projection, ect. We will block your show so that your director knows everything they need to know about rehearsing their students for the next few weeks. After the workshop, we leave for a few weeks, and then we come back on the day of your show and provide the set, costumes, sound system, props, and all of the things you would typically worry about. We do a dress rehearsal in the morning, then the students will perform for the school, and finally, they will perform for the parents in the evening! This is the best option if you have a teacher who wants to take control of the casting and direction themselves.
